We recently took a little road trip over to the town of La Grange, TX. I had seen only a few scattered bunches of bluebonnets, the TX state flower, and Indian paintbrush in the Houston area. However, in the area around La Grange, there were large groups of both flowers. This was the first time in several years that I actually had an opportunity to get out and photograph these beauties. Only problem was, the wind was blowing like crazy, making it kind of tricky to get good sharp images. However, by waiting patiently for the wind to slow down sometimes, I was able to get several keepers. Posting five images. Comments welcome and I hope you enjoy.

I'm 76 and been in Texas every spring except for the four years in spent in the Navy. Saw first bluebonnets
of 2019 in San Antone on February 28. Never remember seeing them any earlier. And they are great this
year. Nice photos. Thanks.

Excellent job! Around the DFW area, instead of Indian Paintbrush. we seem to have a yellow flowering plant mixed in with the Bluebonnets.

Sure wish the Chicken Ranch was still there. As a tourist attraction of course!

I took 71 to Austin weekend before last & noticed the flowers showing up. Terrible light for the entire trip, looks like you fared better. Nice, bright images.

Thank you very much for taking a look and commenting. I appreciate it.

👍👍 These bluebonnets look very similiar to Lupine found in the northwest growing wild at higher elevations.

Thank you very much for taking a look and commenting. The bluebonnets are actually part of the lupine family of plants.

Beautiful! We saw them last year in their full glory southeast of Fort Worth at Ennis. Their bluebonnet festival was a couple days later and it rained, so we lucked out. I understand this year's bloom is just as gorgeous!

Thank you very much for taking a look and commenting. Yes, this year's crop of bluebonnets seems to be one of the best.
