TILLAMOOK, OR. VISIT
My daughter was just at Peter Iredale this morning, and just a small portion of the ship is showing. Bummer, but still a cool area to visit.
I also grew up in that area, so much to see and enjoy.
Cape Mears lighthouse in Oceanside. Rocks in Oceanside.
Cape Lookout State Park. Hike to the end of the Cape.
Be sure to visit Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park, about 15 miles north of Tillamook-- a lot of great photo ops there.
You really cant miss anywhere on the Oregon Coast.
I live only an hour and a half from Tillamook. Been there sooo many times. It is a beautiful valley, surrounded on all sides by the coast range, and of course, the ocean to the west. There are so many incredible rivers around the area, my favorite being the Trask River. There is what used to be a blimp hanger that is used for other purposes, I believe its an airplane museum right now. Not far from the hanger you can very often see hundreds of elk grazing in the fields. Not far from Tillamook is a town called Geribaldi, where there are many photo opportunities. To the south of Tillamook you can go to Pacific City. This is where Cape Kiwanda and Haystack Rock reside. Beautiful area. The have a beach where the Dory Fishermen launch their fishing boats from the beach. The Oregon Coast is an incredible photo op, from the north to its boundries on the border of California. I hope this helps you. JESS
I haven't been down there in years but if you enjoy photographing wildlife, Sea Lion Caves is an area to explore. Lots of wildlife you don't get to see concentrated together.
