Indeed you have. I also remember the people. Bretons are Celts and have more in common with the Irish than the rest of France. They share the Irish sense of fun and joy of life. I recall we stayed in one small hotel and met another Irish couple. One thing led to another and before we knew it, we had a 'song-song' going and were joined by the hotel staff coming off duty - including managers! We were singing Irish and Breton 'come-all-yous' in the bar until 2:00 in the morning - much to the displeasure of the other hotel guests.

Love going on your trip with you, Joe. The new light house is really something. I just love the architecture images. I see you eat well on these trips.

Rowedean

Hi Rowedean for your comment. This was a real good trip, so many different highlights in places really quite close together. And as to food - I love to try regional specialties, elaborated as on some of the pictures I have shown, or simple, like this galette - for us local food is very much an integral part of experiencing a location - and I assume this is true for many if not most travelers.

I like the masonry stonework in #9. Almost looks like it predates 1950. Other photos were great, too.

Thanks Dikdik - I assume you are referring to #8 - the (automatic) placing of the captions is a bit unfortunate, it is not easily visible whether it belongs to the photo above or below as there is not sufficient spacing between the photos. Anyway - you are very correct: one could very easily assume this lighthouse to be constructed earlier than in 1950 - I would assume that it was built in a "local style".

Was #8... I have to learn to count. Could be part of the existing structure complex and Architecture may have dictated that it be suitably designed. Nice to see stonework... almost a thing of the past.

Thanks Earnest - that last shot showed a really simple but delectable lunch meal.

Thats the beauty about traveling - so many non-orchestrated experiences that one remembers for a lifetime!

You are right, that probably was the reason to use this beautiful design!

Very nice series. I really like the castle and the cliffs. I am always amazed at how close houses in Europe are to the roads there....virtually no sidewalks at all.

Thanks Mary Ellen - cliffs are always one of my favorites. As to the sidewalks, in ancient centers the are sometimes very narrow as the originally sufficient roads had to be reconfigured for a lot more and motorized traffic as well as the pedestrians, so sometimes things do get tight - but it also lends an air of authenticity.
