We all have to start somewhere...
Hi everyone!
Im new to this forum and very excited to take my interest to the next level of being an actual hobby. Seeing the (very) high level that many of you are at is a little intimidating, but I plan on taking things at my own pace and enjoy the ride.
Im in the market for my next step camera as I currently use an embarrassingly old point and shoot though it DID help nurture my interest so Im thankful for that! Im up for ANY advice people have to offer on the subject; with the research I have done thus far Im looking at either the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V or the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS.
Thus far, my main photography subjects have been animals my horses, cats, dog, chickens etc as well as landscapes
though Im not opposed to taking a picture of anything that catches my eye
Im truly looking forward to this new adventure!

I favor Canon, but it is all an opinion. :O
Wecome to the group...and I prefer Canon as well. Lots of choices no matter the brand. Beautiful horse!

im a raving nikonian, so i am neutral in your choices, but have heard on this site bad things about that particular cannon. The model it replaced was great but there is some trouble with the 40. hopefully one of the cannonites can give you more details. love the cat shot.
Thank you! Those two (Jaune Tom: Cat and Jedi: horse) are my best "customers" lol.
I think I'm going to hit Best Buy and spend some "play time" with the different camera models...I can't believe how many choices there are!
