Ever seen a turtle birth?

Just wanted to share this special moment, which the turtle graciously shared with me. I checked the mound every day and never saw the babies. She laid 4 eggs in that spot.

That's not something you see every day. It's a shame you didn't get to see the babies (and share them with us).

Didn't mean to post it so small. Sorry. I can send again if anyone wants a closer look. I always thought turtles laid tiny eggs. What a surprise!

I did re post a larger version for you, but it's buried in the new topics I guess. Anyway here it is. I don't know if box turtles hatch at night. I do know sea turtles do.

Thank you very much. It was last fall. I checked every day and never saw any signs of disturbance at the mound where she buried them. If they survived I don't know how they got out as we have hard clay type soil.

The eggs may not be fertilized... my female lays every year even though there is no male in her habitat. Just empties..!
BTW- congrats on getting to witness this amazing event! The digging and burrying is my favorite to watch!
