And look at this, it has the mode dial lock button from the D600!!!!
Other than that I can see no physical exterior differences, and only 1 1/2 hours before full specifications are officially announced.

Makes me wonder if I should buy the new 7100 or the D-800.

Additional button (from the D7000) on the left side of the rear of the camera "I"

Nice catch. That's where the OK button is on my D800's. And it still has the info button on the right. It also has the D800 Live view/video button. Now I am wondering..........

"Exquisite detail reproduction thanks to 24.1 effective megapixels and an image sensor unit designed without an optical low-pass filter.
In order to maximize the high resolution realized by its high pixel count, the D7100’s image sensor unit does not integrate an optical low-pass filter (OLPF)*. This system successfully brings out NIKKOR lenses’ sharp rendering performance to make full use of the 24.1-megapixel resolution achieved with the Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor, delivering stunning reproduction of details with depth."

Seems like an undewhelming upgrade. The 24 MP upgrade is no surprise after the D3200/5200.

It says they added HDR. I wonder if it is the two shot HDR of the D5100 or a 3 shot?

If I understand it right the lack of a low pass filter makes it more like the D800e. I wonder how come they don't think they need that any more? I have read that those with the 800e don't think the low pass filter is necessary and claim sharper images.

I don't get how or if the 1.3 crop thing differs from simply cropping your shot in-camera or afterwards.

Wish they said something about the dynamic range.

The 1.3X crop is off the already crop sensor specs?

The mode dial lock button on the D600 I find to be very aggravating and one of the few things I do not like about the D600.

To me this is a BIG upgrade, on the D7000 the mode dial turns to easily which is aggravating when you are shoot an important scene and something ( camera strap, clothing, etc) cause the dial to turn from the mode you are in. This is the one item that makes me consider upgrading to the D7100

It's a feature I find annoying but I see where lots of people would like it. It is also one of those features that wouldn't keep me from buying the camera.
