OK, so I have been reading this forum daily for about a month. I have picked up some good tips and although I have been taking pictures for a few years, I never really did anything more than snapshots and then it was pure luck when something turned out well. I need to get a tripod, I have decided but here are some shots that I have taken recently. The flower is a bit out of focus but at the time I was trying for the blurred background. My grandson was playing at my house and I had painted his face, now I wish I hadn't because the picture is cute. The water shot is from a work trip I just returned from. It's the first time I have actually gotten up early to try for an early morning shot at a certain time of day. Feel free to critique

Welcome to another Washingtonian..........
Beautiful shots and welcome aboard.
I agree that the picture is cute, and your grandson is a little cutie - but I like the paint. Unique personality!
Welcome to UHH. That is one very happy young man playing with Jenga blocks. I would not worry about the face paint, it reinforces the smile on his face. He had a great day... great shot
Thanks Bill, he did have a great day and because of the jenga blocks I was actually able to capture him holding sort of still.
