Has anyone done much with the 4S and 5 iPhone cameras? I just bought/read/looked at a book entitled, The Best Camera Is The One You Have With You. It seems to me like another good way to do Street Photography, and to take that "interesting" shot when it is least expected. And your phone is usually with you. I took a couple recently while riding my Silver Wing. I'd like to know what others have done with the iPhone.

It IS the handy camera we always have with us. Many dedicated DSLR folks try to have that with them always - I do - but sometimes there is just that little need that the iPhone fills. I use it to visually document places or for visual reminders. My kids and grands make much better use of it getting pix and movies instantly into emails - which I love to receive.
One good feature is that they are so ubiquitous that you can be very unobtrusive and get some interesting street photog shots. Everybody is doin' it and few people seem to care.
There have been some tutorials on websites showing iPhone photos that are quite well done. The newest models have some terrific technology packed into that small tool. We live in amazing times!
i use a nikon d3100. my wife shoots with her iphone. she has hundreds of beautiful, spur of the moment photos. don't tell anyone i said this, but some of hers rival mine.

sorry, couldnt resist that one.
A quick anecdote.
I was sailing on a "Tall Ship" out of Morro Bay yesterday taking photos. A young lady was taking a photo into the sun, squinting and shading her eyes to see her iPhone. I told her that was a tough shot into the sun.
She said she liked it and showed me the photo. It came out great, not technically the best, but nice flared highlights and a bit of our companion Tall Ship.
I tried a similar shot with my D800 and a 35-70 f2.8 . . . it sucked. All washed out as I expected.
Now I did get some great shots with my D800 that I would be proud to hang in a studio, but that iPhone shot surprised me!
I just got my first real camera ... Up until Now I only used the iPhone I ha e included a few images that were taken and processed on the iPhone

Not a bad idea. Seems like there's an interest and you have some followers. Why not have Admin open up a new section that you can moderate?
Nice pic.

Thanks GeneM,
Because of age & other considerations I'll "cop out" from initiating this idea. However, if some else starts, I would contribute.

Well Rich, I always appreciate humorous sarcasm.
And until now I objected to a camera in a cell phone. But the technology has become so good that having a point & shoot is almost superfluous if you have a 4s or 5 iPhone. And, a P&S won't let you talk with your friends.

The first two were processed using a combo of camera+ and snapseed, the Statue of Liberty I am ashamed to say I don't remember I know I used several apps in the processing and have a lot of time in the image .....
