Since the topic of color management and monitor calibration and profiling comes up so often, here is a link to a free webinar:

I have tried to use color munki with little success. It looks OK for calibrating the monitor but its application to paper profiles does not work. They all look murky. I have had several phone call sessions with the X Rite boys but it has not helped. It is lying in its box . Waste of £350 ? Any of you guys able to help will be appreciated. Using "printer manages colors" gives me really good prints with Epson R 300.

When making a "printer profile" you need to use a test image of known icc color values, in your printer driver menu use "no color management" settings what-so-ever, and a paper type setting to match the paper that you are creating a profile for.

When you say that you are getting murky colors it indicates to me that you have a printer driver mismatch in the color settings
menu.

Here is a good, known color test image to use when making a printer profile and following that link I have included a good link to color management that should help you.

Yeah - Flyguy is right - you have a driver -mismatch in there somewhere.

If you are using the ColorMunki to profile paper, then in the print dialog you MUST use Photoshop Manages Colors and Printer Profile needs to be the one that the Color Munki created. I have done this and it works great.

Many thanks for your advice. What I am interested in is getting paper profiles which have not got ICC profiles. As I said I have worked exactly as required by the Color Munki instructions, several times. I have not had any success even with the X Rite guys guiding me. I must be doing something horribly wrong because most Color Munki users find it good. Uncannily the printer R300 gives me excellent prints some of which have been judged 10 marks, when I set the printer adjust color setting rather than the Photoshop adjust setting with the paper profile obtained by the color Munki.

I am just unlucky, because I have tried hard to get it right.
