Great story! Thanks for sharing.
Wish I had my FIRST roll of Kodachrome, but, alas....
A great remembrance of a fabulous film. Thanks.
Thanks. Enjoyed this video. Kept humming the Kodachrome song by Paul Simon throughout the video.
Thanks for the memory Nikonia.
As a former (Retired) Industrial Photographer i shot a lot of Kodachrome. Nothing like it. Made most of my Prints on Cibachrome.
My brother was the manager and Tech for one of the last kodachrome labs in Florida (Total Chrome), also now gone.
Thanks for the memories.
Great video and story. Years ago I was going through some packed away boxes and found a roll of this very slide film that had been exposed. From the items with it in the box I figured it was around 20 years old, so I took it in for processing to see what was on it. It was in fact photos of my motorcycle racing days 20 years previously when I used to ice race. Even at 20 years old, sitting in a box in the basement, all the images came out. They were a little washed out but you could get a print off each slide. It was an amazing film for sure.
Thanks, Nikonian. There's a lot of us still living that remember Kodachrome.
When a newscaster announced it's demise I felt like a whole American institution disappeared.
isn't hard now to think about only shooting 36 pics and having to reload?????

Yes, my right thumb still is a little twitchy trying to get the film lever to move the film one more time. Sort of miss it except when I shoot a hundred shots on a morning photo walk.
Thanks, Nikonian, interesting stuff. Toward the end there's about a two-minute blank, space, but the last 5 minutes has additional info that's worth watching, too.
BTW, since he's shooting portraits, what is that big lens he's packing on his Nikon?
He sure went all out for those last 36 frames.
Great photography.
I wonder what each picture would cost if all his expenses were amortized in that last roll.
