I've been lurking for a month or so and can't believe how much I've learned in that month. Thanks. Started taking photos in my teens and on and off since, you know how life can get in the way sometimes! Haven't really done much PP (just got LR4 and some classes). I've been mainly focusing on learning my camera (T4i). Here's a few photos, C&C welcome!

Welcome Canonjohn and nice photos. This is a great site and being fairly new myself, you are right about learning. Everyone has been very helpful and kind and willing to help with questions. Nice to meet you :)

Hi CJohn, welcome to the hog. It takes a while to master a new camera, especially a dslr...so don't get frustrated...it will come to you. The photos you posted are real good, compositionwise. The bird could use a little contrast snap. but otherwise is good. the other two shots are very good. Keep it up.

Hello John and welcome to the UHH. Yes a bit soft with focus like you said...but keep at it...I think that's really the fun part.
Thanks Rich appreciate your encouragement.
thanks Bret, appreciate your encouragement too, the fun begins (I hope) when at least one photo comes out okay, then two....
Welcome. I agree that the first shot is a bit "soft" on the focus. I like the composition of the iris photo and the color is good; however, I am not sure what you want to show with the Gettysburg field. There doesn't seem to be a focal point, and the pavement is a bit distracting. Keep shooting and posting. You'll get the hang of it.
Thanks AuntieM and I intend to keep on a shootin'
Welcome and now the fun begins.
Thanks gerrpet I was up in your area in November on my way to churchill, beautiful city you have there.
