If you have a Sony A77 go ahead and update your firmware to 1.07. Just out today. Your cam will come on very fast and you can shoot as so as you turn it on. zero lag on the dials. vast improvement.

any other improvements - like tethering? i'vr had my a77 for 10 months and i just sent it back to the repair show for the 2nd time. even though it's under warranty it doesn't sit well with me. i don't have any more confidence in the camera. i'm gonna try and push them to give me a new one especially since it went back in for a similar problem.

Thanks for the info! I have no real complaints with my a77 - only with me, 'cause I need to know & understand my manual, lol.

Everyone talks about tethering for the Sony A77, No it doesn't have tethering. BUT. Did you know you can connect the A77 to a monitor by the HDMI connecter and see exactly what the camera is seeing, focus, change settings, etc and see it on a big screen. Use the remote to take a picture,it will be what you saw on the big screen TV.If you are using a eye-fi memory card it will down load the picture to your computer for you. make sure you have the eye-fi X2 to do raw transfer's.
Yes the new up date made some real good improvements and the camera does start instantly.

I guess that can be usefull to some extent if you happen to have a monitor and are just doing things around your house. i was thinking more along the lines of connecting it to my ipad or kindle or something like that (hmm - wonder if any of those other devices have an hdmi connection). as to the wi-fi card - i already tried it with my A77 and i didn't like it. it took too long for the picture to come up on the screen even using the x2 card.

Yes the eye-fi cards take a long time to download to the computer. It works OK if you are taking a few shots that take time to set up the next shot.
Someone told me they down load there pic's to there, don't remember if he said I-pad or kindle fire. but uses the wi-fi
He must have loaded the program to that

Where do I find the update, what is involved and needed to update my A-77. I'm new to the digital thing and have been dragged, kicking and screaming into this century by my kids!!
