Around the end of August we have a couple of days at the GDSF - had just got my new canon, so it was just the place to try it out.
First visit was pretty muddy and everyone struggled!
....more mud.
Second day was much nicer...

I just love old iron. That last picture is great. We ahve a steam show close here every fall. One of the biggest around. Always fun.

Hi Erv, yes, it's always worth a visit to the steam fair - you can see the scale of this one from the attached shot - and love the open belt and unguarded saw blade whizzing round!

The pics were great. I used to go to the steam fairs around Oxford many years ago. I loved to see the old 'steamers'.
Nice set magnetoman, I've been meaning to go to the GDSF for ages, perhaps this year
Thanks for looking All. Definately recommend a visit - it's reckoned to be the biggest steam fair in the world (OK, OK, there may be a bigger one in the States!)- they certainly get engines from all over. We spend at least a day just looking through the junk stalls. I'll start another thread some time to show the variety of engines there - also the hill - quadruple-headed and pulling an artic carrying a Navy Class loco, what more could you ask?
All the participants get steamed and the others get pleasure. Unique and cool festival, with great shots.
You've got the measure of it! Thanks for looking.
