Today I tried to photograph sparrows in an attempt to pull their natural beauty out (if they have any). I found the brown coloring of their feathers to be rather vivid. There was no enhancement in pp other than cropping.

Mamma sparrow is not as colorful.

This morning I watched a drama play out 3 feet in front of an apartment front door - between a small hawk and a sparrow in a bush. The sparrow finally got away. I'd been rooting for the hawk, but your photos show a beauty I didn't appreciate previously.

Super shots tainkc, that's what I like about photography, straight out of the camera, nothing taken out, nothing added, no rubbish shot made to look what it wasn't!!

nice shot here is another tip I learned and you might already use it. in your camera in picture styles I use standard for birds lower your contrast by one. It will bring out the dark areas in the bird. I don't process mine to much either. I like to get it right in the camera first.

Thanks, Linda. I was going over the pics I posted the other day when I thought of this.

Thanks! I kind of think in the same way. I do have built in HDR in my camera and it does as HDR is intended to do; that is to adjust the contrast. Nothing more, nothing less.

Really nice. I am pretty tired of the sparrows I've been looking at...the browns are beautiful in your guys!

I think house sparrows are dull, and because they don't belong here I don't give them much of my time. Just a lot of food.

I don't blame you for using what you have.
I'm fortunate to have many birds other than house sparrows.
When you get bored with yours, you are welcome to come see what we have here. :P
