I would like members to share, both good & bad, buying experiences with Ryther Camera out of Linden, N.J.

They seem to have good prices on Nikon D7000 cameras and also a variety of packages at good prices.

Any & all comments will be appreciated.

I joined UHH a month or so ago and I am really enjoying members photos, discussions and assistance.

Thanks,

Don

Hi. I ordered a Canon 7D from them about a week and a half ago. I was contacted by David, one of their Sales Reps, last Sunday to confirm the details of my order. On noticing that I was a first time customer, he actually threw in a few freebies such as a 16g CF card and an extra battery (I'm sure the battery is aftermarket and, if so, I probably won't use it. But it was a nice gesture).

I got an e-mail on Friday stating that my order had shipped and that I should have it on Wednesday the 6th.

I'll know more once the order arrives but, so far, I've had no problems at all. I'll update, if you'd like me too, after Wednesday,

I ordered a Nikon SB-910 "USA" version from them because of the price, what I got was a "grey market" flash instead. After confirming the issue with Nikon I confronted Ryther who claimed it was indeed USA and would send me the warranty card that was "mysteriously" missing from the box. When the warranty card arrived it was all in Chinese. Another check with Nikon re-confirmed it was not the USA version so I filed a claim with my credit card company providing the original ad as well as the email from Nikon. After 30 days Ryther had refused to respond to VISA's requests for clarification and they reversed the charge on my credit card. Almost 30 days later Ryther called me to offer an exchange of a USA flash for my grey market model. I never returned the call and so far my free flash is working. I hate getting ripped-off and that's exactly what they did, but, at least in my particular case, it bit them in the butt. I will never consider them for any future purchases because of this incident.

Ordered a lens for my nephew this past Christmas. Great price, fast shipment and they followed up to see if we were satisfied.

I had a really good experience with them and would recommend them to anyone.

They appear to be above average (8.23 vs. 9.41 for Adorama vs. 9.74 for B & H).

I'd buy from them based on price.

Hmm, some of the reviews have got me a bit nervous about Wednesday. Bright side, I can always cancel if need be. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and keep positive.

You should check the serial number to assure you got a USA rather than grey market D7000. A Nikon warranty should be in the camera box along with the charger a Nikon battery, cables, etc. the warranty is a two-part form- page one is mostly printed in black with a yellow background. Good luck.

Nice touch!

I wish I'd got my SB910 for free. But good luck to you, it's worth persevering.

The warranties are the same in appearance. The give-away is in the 'Distributor' box. I got a 'grey' market item displaying "Nikon BV The Netherlands" which Nikon UK wouldn't recognise, but I sent it to Holland who honoured the warranty. No problem.
However, if your 'grey' market stuff is Chinese, or Thai or wherever, I can see that being a bit of a hassle.

This is why I use Adorama, B&H, Samy's or Cameta....they all will take a return regardless of the reason, they WANT you to be happy.
