I bought a D ^00 saturday. on the way home i stopped nd shot a few pictures brought them home and downloaded them ands was happy with it. Last night i was trying some shots in the house and could not open them on the computer or light room. Today i shot 160 pictures outside some being HDR i can see all the pictures in the iew finder but, of all the 160 shots i did today only three will open in Lightroom and Windows the rest say they can not be rad or opened, something like that. I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. Thanks You

How are you loading them to the computer?
What version LR? If less than 4 I doubt that it will recognize the raw file.
Sounds like you are using an older version of ACR (Adobe Camera RAW), you need to check and if needed, upgrade it to ACR 7.3. The upgrade is free from Adobe and then your LR or CS programs will read the D600 RAW (NEF) files just fine.
Your Nikon D600 came with a disk for post-processing called ViewNX2, so if you don't have Photoshop CS6 or Lightroom 4, upload that program. You can work on your raw (or jpg) files in ViewNX2 (a Nik product written especially for Nikon) and then CONVERT (on the top right or your screen) them to jpgs easily. Then finish working on them in whatever program you normally edit in. I bought a D600 a few weeks ago and will continue this process until I can afford to make some upgrades. (If your camera didn't come with ViewNX2, you can download it for free:

Thanks every one for the help' I do have LR in 3 in one computer and was shooting in raw with my D 7000and everything was fine no problem uploading at all. In my new computer with L R 4 i can not upload any thing from the D 600 i am not sure what the pop up says i should write it down next time. I thought it might be the camera but i now know it is not. I am open o all ideas but right now i am going to try and download the ACR that M T is telling me about. Again every one Thank You
I did download the ACR 7.3 in the computer with LR 3 it has not helped yet. I will do it in LR4 later this week when i get back from work and try it on that one. One thing that gets me though is all the pics i shot Saturday and three this morning out of 160 pics uploaded when i tried them the other did not.

Try ViewNX, its free and does do some minor editing - and, as others have said update your LR.
In Lightroom 4 under Help the menu says check for updates which will get you the latest version. Forget about Lightroom 3.

Is it possible you shot these in jpg? If so, they would open no problem.
