Trying to find out what these are?????

I live in an apartment at an old New England farm. It used to be a dairy farm and also has a sawmill. I found these in the barn. Since the members of UHH are such a diverse and worldwide group I wonder if anyone has ever seen an implement like these and would have an idea of what they were used for. I've searched the web with no luck so I just thought I'd try this.

removeable Handles for a cross cut saw! I cut hundreds of cords of firewood after school with one of these in my hands when I was a kid. you slip it over the end to engage a notch in the bottom of the saw and twist the handle clockwise until it's tight.

used them when younger on many cords myself, chain saws are easier and quicker, haven't seen them in a few years though.
