Howdy everyone, I'm new so I am floundering here. Never been on a site like this. Not real computer literate. I use a canon T2I and am looking for a macro lens that isn't too expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks

You might try a closeup filter for your lens. It's not macro, but it is inexpensive and allows for decent shots.

Macro can mean different things to different people. What will be the subject of your photography?

Hi Karen,
I too have a T2I...I don't know how you define your price range, but I have a Canon Macro EF-S 60mm 2.8 USM lens that I have had for several years, it produces excellent results for me...It is also an excellent portrait lens as well.

Hi Karen and welcome!! Lots of great folks here to help you out. And to make some awesome friendships with. But the best thing is we have fun together doing it.:) On a micro lens the biggest thing is distance to the subject. With a 60mm you will be prettyclose. It will be hard to shoot bugs. The longer the lens the farther away you will be. I shot a 105 Nikon and an old 70-180 micro Nikon made. If you really want some good info. Take a look here and you will get great folks to help you.
But most of all, remember to have fun!!!

Look at eshopic on Amazon. There you will find tubes that make your standard 18 55 lens work like a macro lens. These extender/extension tubes will cost less than $20 where as a macro lens will cost $100s to close to $1000.
See the image thats less the $15.
Just a suggestion.
