Took this shot of an eagle and cropped it to get a little closer, then I noticed the glow around the eagle. Does anyone know what caused it? Took 3 other shots and it was not present on them.

Did you do any post processing? I've seen that result when I did "local tone mapping."

I treated all of the shots the same, this eagle was flying away from me to my left and into the sun.

If you hit store original people can get a closer look, hard to tell at this size. Could be chromatic aberration emphasized by pp.

It certainly looks like a sharpening or post processing artifact.

Just a guess, but "into the sun" may be the clue - BIF change aspect and lighting very quickly - I would put my money on the light angle reflecting off feathers, like a "hair light" behind a subject in the portrait studio.

I can see some of the same haloing on the second and third shots too, not as pronounced but definitely there. It looks like a post processing artifact to me too. What processing was done, in-camera and afterwards?

That was what I was thinking that it is the sun angle, thanks

This problem of a glowing effect around a subject may occur when you oversaturate or use an over amount of vibrancy. This happened to me, the picture looked good but I wanted to make it better so I laid a little more saturation and there was the glow. Hope this helps!

It is over processed. Just like Buffalo Bills says. I know, been there..done that. Go back and start over, watch your sliders and photo..you should see which one is causing this.

I agree. If you use CS5 or LR3 some of the sliders can cause this halo effect - especially the Clarity slider. As suggested, post an image that you have not done any post processing to so we can help.
