The facts, maam, just the facts. Your opinion don't count!
I'm using a Tamron 18-270 on a Nikon D7000, with a Bower MC 2X N/AFo Tele - Converter. It works, it's not terrific but it works.
Well I am going to get a good income tax refund this year. I think I see a new lens in my future.

Yes I know this subjest has been brought up before but I still have a question. First! I'm not looking for or want "opinions". If I want your opinion, I'll ask for it. I'm just looking for Facts! I use the Canon t4i with the Tamron 18 - 270. I spoke with Tamron yesterday and they said their teleconvertor won't work with this lens. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over! Their unit won't work with their lens. Does anyone have experience with one that WILL work? I'm simply wanting to increase the focal length for some shots without paying $$$$$$$ for a lens that I won't use that much.
Go for it.

Sorry, all I have is an (informed) opinion. Can't help you.

Hello Ervingite, and all, I own both the Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens and the Tamron 2X SP AF Tele-Converter. I matched them to a Canon 50D camera, and took a couple of shots. The quality of the shots are questionable. I lost AF, and possibly VC. But the lens did function manual focus.
My Tamron lens was sent to Tamron last month for a "soft focus" problem. It was sent back to me, and arrived on Jan 3. The Tamron rep said it had been cleaned, and calibrated to specs for Canon cameras. (this was done on warranty, since the lens is only 6months old, with a 6 year warranty) Last Sunday I calibrated the lens to the camera using FoCal software. Here are the two shot I made in the backyard using the lens and converter.
18mm at about 100yds
270mm at 100yds
Hello again, I took a look at the meta data from both of these shots and found the lens, nor the 2x converter is identified properly. It says the lens is 85mm, this incorrect. If you dial down, it tells the lens is 18-270 and gives the zoom value of the shot. This proves there is a mis-connection from the camera to the lens through the teleconverter. So, 1. loss of focus control or EF, 2. Loss of communication through the converter exists for META data, 3. Possible loss of VC to the camera body. So, now you have a bucket of "facts" about the lens, and tele-converter.
Now, none of these problems exist when I use my Canon EF 70-200 f4L USM lens. The photos are tack sharp, with or without the tele-converter. I actually bought the converter to use with my Tamron 200-500mm zoom, Canon 70-200mm zoom for a trip to my upcoming trip to Costa Rica.
A teleconverter on a super zoom is highly not recommended! Image quality is marginal to begin with on those things
I use a Kenko N-AF 1.4X Teleplus Pro 300 on my Nikor 70-300 Kit Lens coupled with the old D50 almost exclusively. Love the combination. As for sharpness and great all around performance, see Gregoryd45's fabulous photos useing a 1.4 converter. Nobody does it better.
