Please comment on the high contrast and composition.
I like the high contrast. It gives great mood to the shot and I do have a few suggestions about the photo.
If I had the opportunity to shoot this scene I would have gone for a lower point of view and left out the much of the stove under the coffee pot. That would draw the viewerÂ’s attention to the subject (the pot) and the high contrast would complement the texture displayed by the pot.
Subject lends itself nicely to high contrast. I would crop out the window for the photo as-is, but would also be interested in a shot using angle of view seeSAW suggested.
I like it. Not the one to critique this though.
I like the contrast and subject treatment. I can't decide on the inclusion of the window in the composition.

I like the angle, and subject and treatment.
My only two criticisms are:
1.) The brightness of the window distracts away from the coffee pot. The subject should be the brightest thing so this doesn't happen.
2.) I'd have rather had a deeper depth of field to see the floor more clearly but that's just a preference.
