Just when I thought I was settled on the Canon SX50, I saw that Fuji has come out with the SL1000. 16 mp & 50X zoom. Does anyone know about this camera? Has it been released? Any initial impressions?

I would stick with the Canon sx50, the Fuji is a 16 mp 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS. In my opinion, that's way too much resolution in such a small sensor.

I agree. Canon reduced their sensor from 14mp to 12mp when they came out with the SX40 and it resulted in improved performance.

Also I prefer the SX50 fully articulating LCD instead of just a tilt on the Fuji and Nikon P510.

Other than that, Fuji does make nice cameras.
