Presently I use GIMP for PP and I'm interested in possibly purchasing one of the Adobe products, or any product, that has the same, or more, features as GIMP. I'd like to keep the price at, or below, $200.00. The learning curve isn't an issue. Any suggestions.

Why not try the free download of photoshop elements 11 and see if you really need more than that. You get a month to think about it.

Hi mfeveland: I was given a copy of Photoshops Elements 10 for Christmas in 2011 from Costco. Although it's not as complete as regular Photo Shop it has many of the features and compares well to GIMP or in my opinion a few more. The cost on the program was only $40 at the time. I was also able to purchase a full copy of Lightroom 3.5 through Craigs list and again it was only $40. I've just sent an email request to the same guy to see if he now has LR4 available for purchase. He was teaching a class on the program and used to sell the unused student copies through Craigs List. Should I hear back from him I'll pass the information along if and when I get it.

Hi again mfeveland: The major difference is Lightromm was designed to process large batch files for professional photographers. Both do excellent work, the learning curve for me was a bit higher in Lightroom, not that I've even come close to mastering either one.

Try PaintShopPro x5 Ultimate -- under 100, usually available for 60 to 80 somewhere. Good deals directly on Corel most of the time too.

If you are an educator, Adobe offers very low costs for their software.

Go to ebay, pay close attention to ratings, responses and description, then get last years model of Lightroom, or PhotoShop, figure out what you are willing to pay, and bid that amount early- don't try and wait it out. That's not a good way to win.

I always bid a tiny bit over a threshold, in your case, I might bid $202.95... That way you beat out someone who bids 200 at the last second.

May take awhile, but you'll win one.
