Stopped at Keokuk Iowa dam on the Mississippi River day before yesterday to see if many eagles were hanging out. Only had a chance to catch this young one as he was taking off for a fishing trip.
Cloudy, 27F, D800, 70-200 at 200mm. 1/1250 sec. exposure, F5, ISO 200, handheld.
I'm glad I traded the D600 in on the D800. This photo is cropped clear down to 1.95 mb at 360 dpi. (Should I have used a different dpi for posting?)
Since I'm planning an Alaska trip next summer, I see a 2x teleconverter in my future for those once-in-a-lifetime shots where you just can't get closer. I don't think it turned out too bad considering the extreme cropping, tho.
Mom warned me not to land in the thick branches
OK--with original cropping attached

nice photo....Do some research before you buy a teleconverter. there is a lot of info on the hog about converters
Nice shot. Either a teleconverter or a 150-500mm.
