I found this on the internet. It helped me understand the budget.
Fiscal Cliff put in a much better perspective
Lesson # 1:
U.S. Tax Revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal Budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New Debt: $1,650,000,000,000
National Debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent Budget cuts: 38,500,000,000
Lets now remove 8 zeros and pretend its a household budge:
Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Total budget cuts so far: $385
Got it?
. OK now
Lesson # 2
Heres another way of looking at the Debt Ceiling:
Lets say you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood
and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings. What do you think you should do?
Raise the ceiling or remove the shit?
Ahhhh the simplicity of clear thinking.

Great idea. Let's stop electing politicians and get some "Statesman" in there. Vote the bums out until everyone gets the message we won't take it any more. That would help. If the people would stop believing that there are only 2 parties it would help.
Come on America....we really have to do something. I don't know what but our government is out of control. They don't even care anymore how obvious their disregard for the taxpayers is anymore. While fighting over how much they're going increase our taxes, they take the freeze off their pay raises and increase their pay. How can supposedly moral people do that? They should all be recalled and impeached for gross violations of our trust and personal greed.
But, they must be doing a great job as your president has just awarded them with pay raises of about $6,000.
I sent sen. corker an email last week demanding that someone start impeachment procedures against obama and I got the same old response. I think we all should start bombarding representatives with demands and see what gets done. I believe there is a lot of power in the masses.
I think the nation is long past the "slippery slope" and we're on the way up the poop river without a paddle---or a competent leader.
I like it.
Personally I think driving over the so-called fiscal cliff is a good start in the right direction.
Keep in mind the name was coined by the socialist administration to cause pressure.
The predictions of a recession if it happens are far off base. Check the assumptions that go into it. Government jobs are a bad thing for the economy, not a good thing.
Maybe the people of the world should privatize all Gov'ts so they have to show a profit. Else they get fired. That would include the top management. Then maybe all this outragious spending would come to an end. There is nothing like free enterprise and competition to breed common sense in industry.
I like your idea Shutterbug65 since we are the stock holders. Fire obama, reid, pelosi and biden

Right on, Trainnut. The budget stretches from Middleville up to Walker & all they want to do is take off the caboose. Will be sitting at the crossing forever waiting for that train to pass!
Warren Buffet has the best political philosophy I've heard in many years.
