After using this external flash and removing it from the camera, I can no longer use the built-in flash. ( Error message says 'cannot use internal flash, as external flash is still mounted' )
Anyone else have this problem ?? :(

I have read about this problem only once on another forum, but it hasn't happened to me. (I have the same set up) It must be a somewhat rare mechanical problem probably covered by warranty.
I had the same problem there is a little button under the one of the spring in the shoe you need to take a needle and wiggle that button. when you put the flash on it just got stuck t is a very small button you may need a maqnifying glass to see it. if you have problems p-m me and I will send you a picture of the location of the buuton. please be gentle and careful you don,t want to do damage to the springs

I experienced a similar problem with my Canon Xsi. There was a tiny piece of dist/dirt/lint/something that was stuck under the rail of the flash shoe on the camera. Get a needle/toothpick/anything small enough to run the length of that rail and clear it out. It is getting an erroneous message that the external flash is still attached. Hope that helps. The other option is to call/email Canon tech support. They will walk you through any other possibilities.
