I took three pictures in a row (no post processing except for re-size). Number 2 has a fog line running through the tree roots up through the porch. Any idea what it is. I added the other two pictures for comparison. It looks like a PP brush stroke, but I didn't go there.

It could be, I wasn't using a hood.

It looks like a hair or piece of lint that was on your lens and was catching some direct sunlight at that particular angle. The sun was behind you in the other 2 shots so it wouldn't have shown up in them at all.

this looks like its reflection from the glass in the door top right kind of glass flair

I go with the "hair explanation." The line is not circular as one would expect lens flare to be. It actually bends in the middle.

Agree with MT... But will add that it looks like a silver hair, lacking pigment, that is acting like a prism. I wasn't there, so it isn't mine.

Looks like lens flair to me as well. Frankly I would be more concerned with those tree roots being so close to the house.

Lens flair doesn't bend... looks like a series of little flairs.. like a bug flying in front of your lens.

In the Ghost Buster groups they call these spirits! lol

A little dynamite would remove the stump without much additional effort. I would use a shaped charge to avoid damage to the house. Just a redneck thought.

From the relative position of the rock to the stump, it looks to me like you moved back and shot from behind that bush to the right in #3 with a zoom and got a branch from the bush or perhaps a twig from another nearby bush between your lens and the dig.

Because it's a string of round circles and not just a smooth "brush stroke looking" line I'd say it's lens flare caused by the low sun coming in from the side (evident because of deep shadows on the stump).

Gotta go with hair. Look at the way the light kinks around at the top of the 2nd photo, Lens flair doesn't act like that.
