Merry Christmas fella UGH Members.

I recently took a photo of some friends we had not seen for almost fifty years. The lady in the Photo was in our wedding.

To my dismay, when I loaded the photo into my computer her eye glasses as you can see had bad glare.

I was using a 50mm f.8 lens and external flash thinking the room was too dark without the flash, I believe this added to the amount of glare along with mostly my in-experience.

I have photoshop elements 10, but not sure exactly how to make an attempt to repair, this glare maybe beyond recovery???

Also, if some of you very experienced, skilled and talented photographer's would render me some advice on reducing potential eye glas glare in my future attempts.

I love Photography have much to learn as this photo depicts, i am a bit intimidated to post this photo attempt, but I want to learn.

I have very thick skin, all comments, feedback and critique will be taken in the spirit of growing and learning.

I thank each one of you in advance for your feedback.

Blessings and a very Merry Christmas from our home to yours may the coming year be filled with love, peace, happiness and prosperity.

Watch this video http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-eliminate-reflections-in-glasses-in-portraits I really like this video to..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjAg4uXtOGw
It helped me as my hubby has glasses and I struggled in the studio to get rid of the glare. After taking one photo with the glasses and then another without I could swap the eyes between pictures but that was time consuming so I am glad I found the above video to explain what I could do to get it right without all the post processing. Good luck!

Merry Christmas Queen Chatty,

Thanks a million for the link to the site, interesting, think I learned something. Other nice links there too..

I don't have the reflectors, or into portraits enough to invest, but the video will help me understand the angles of light and to be aware when photographing family and friends.

That was very nice of you, Thank You, so many wonderful people on UHH.

Merry Christmas to You and your loved ones.

You don't have to worry about getting reflectors to use the information in the videos...just having an OCF will help in taking family portraits. I am glad to help with what ever little bits of knowledge I have picked up in my years of learning. That is why as members of any forum like this one or my other fav POTN we should try to help each other.
Your reply has to be the nicest reply I have had on this forum and I appreciate it very much!
I have been trying to fit in UHH and frankly up until your reply was a little dismayed by how some members treat one another in their replies.
I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a great New year ahead.

interesting somewhere else I read about glasses , it was suggested get your subject to look down or tilt their glasses down.
looking at your pic he's looking down and away and she's looking straight at you , worth a shot isn't it?

Hope you don't mind my playing with your photo.... I used CS6 and the content aware tool to try to cut as much of the glare out of her glasses as I could. Then, toned her skin down just slightly, all over the facial area, because just working in the area under her glasses was giving her dark circles under her eyes. I'm no professional at this, maybe someone else can do better, yourself included, but hope this helps some.

Merry Christmas fella UGH Members. br br I recent... (show quote)

Hi, I usually have good results in removing glass glare in post-processing but this one would probably be very hard and time consuming to remove (if possible) and degraded by the process. That is why I now always double check the results in camera especially with people wearing glasses...that lady also probably didn't have anti-glare in them...which helps a lot...

Good Morning and Merry Christmas,

Thank You so very very much for your time, and skill to remove the glare and clean up this photo.

It is just amazing to me that the UHH Forum has so many wonderful people such as you with the excellent skills, knowledge and a giving heart to help an unknown person posting a "crappy photo"...I am thrilled with your saving this photo for me.

This couple Sam & Charlene have been our friends for over 52 years, Charlene was in our wedding 50.5 years ago. I so wanted to send them this photo and Thanks to you I will now be able to share it with them.

So many have responded with such wonderful advice. Frankly, I was a bit nervous about posting the photo thinking as one often does of the negative that someone would tell me to go find another hobby...ha ha.

To each that have responded Thanks to all of You, I am learning daily and love the hobby. I have been in many hobbies including Amateur Radio and I will say without reservation the Photography Hobby, the help and advice received on the UHH stands heads and shoulders above the help I have ever received with any of my hobby adventures.

Again, Thank you so much, I know it took your time from other things in your life and I am extremely grateful to you.

My Family and I wish you the best Christmas Season ever and may the Year bring you much Happiness, Good Health, Love, Prosperity and most of all the Blessings and Peace.

Merry Christmas.

tom
