Old Ricoh SLR.

I currently have a D3100 & a D7000. I still have my first SLR, a Ricoh, which I bought circa 1980. The old Ricoh has several lenses that were pretty top shelf in their day. I would like to adapt these lenses to my Nikons, if possible.

I have tried local shops, googled, & ebayed, all to no avail. Would any Hoggers know if an adaptor ring was ever made?

Ricoh was never a major brand, so I doubt it, but here's hoping.

What is the lens mount of the Ricoh?....threaded? or some form of a bayonet?

Ricoh used a Pentax mount.

Thanks. Tis a bayonet mount. I had a Pentax SLR before the Ricoh & it was threaded (Pentax obviously changed to a bayonet system after I bought mine).

I'll check out your suggestion, Hangman45. Thanks buddy.

It is actually called a KR mount it is the same as Pentax K-mount if it was being mounted on a Pentax camera there is a extra pin called the Ricoh pin which gets stuck it the auto focus slot we have to remove the pin to use on Pentax AF camera bodies.

Thanks Hangman45. I've given up on the idea, even though it would work. There is really nothing these old lenses will do that I can't do with my modern made for Nikon lenses.

Just a nostalgic rush of blood to the head at the time.

What old lens do you have?

A mix of Rockinon, Rikenon, Sun, & Tamron, from 28mm to 3oomm, plus an Osawa 2X converter. My cousin has an old Pentax & he still uses film, so I guess he can use them.

I had a Ricoh and I think it was one of the nicest cameras I owned.

Try googling a UK firm SRB Ltd( SRB Griturn )- they will make you an adapter for about £100; very good they are, too

I has a Ricoh Hi-Color 35, great fun camera, scale focus, auto exposure, spring wound motor, early pocket camera, never got the underwater housing for it, actually the first picture I ever sold was taken on it, but that's another story, Bob.

Thank y'all for your advice. The exercise is possible, but not worth the expense. My current lenses & converters serve me from 14-1,200mm, so the old lenses would add nothing I don't already have.

The old Ricoh stuff was my first collection of lenses, so I guess I was just nostalgic.

Indeed that was my first and indeed a fine SLR... Sold by Sears. Got a 50 and a 200mm zoom. Light meter built in! Still have the M42 thread lenses and an adapter for the Sony alpha.
