Hi everyone, I just purchased a new Sony a77 and was wondering does anyone have any good or bad news? I have always used Canon and my last was 40D.
Thanks
You got yourself a really good camera there, I and my wife both have Sony's and love them. Good Luck..
Well you better buy one for your wife or your not going to be using it much :XD: Awesome camera
Thank you, I am very excited. Since a always used canon and almost purchased the 7D I was very happy to find so many great things about the Sony on this forum.
I am a female so I will get to use it all the time. :P
Hot Texas do you have to share yours with your wife?

Hahaha bit late to ask NOW isn't it

However I would not want a Sony any more than a Panasonic or Fuji, I prefer the system and backup of Nikon and Canon, and have both.
Most of the CON in the review have been fixed with version release. I own Nikon and Sony and find the Sony capable of doing anything my D2X, D7000 and D800 can do (except resolution on the D800). I never shoot above ISO 1600 on any camera. I shoot all RAW and do PP on all my pictures, and I do sell my some of my work also.

Hi, I have a sony A65 and it does everything and much more than I need, enjoy! :)
The Nikon/Canon crowd will mistakenly sneer, but you're going to take some world-class photos with a VERY capable camera. You'll be more than pleased with your new Sony.
If I might suggest, pick up a copy of Gary Friedman's guide to your A77. Goes well beyond the manual in offering a straightforward 'how-to' get the best from your new camera.
Merry Christmas and congrats!
Merry Christmas and congrats for your new camera. Enjoy it and take good pics.
I also have an A77 (along with A700, A850 and A900) and the A77 is the one I use the most. Great camera, if you can get ahold of the Zeiss or "G" lenses you will have an unbeatable combination (I don't know how good the A99 is).
The a77 is in a class all of its' own. There have been many attempts to compare it to certain Nikons and Canons and it just does not work. The a77 is an excellent camera.
I think you will find the the Electronic viewfinder to be of great help because it lets you see right then and there what you will get before you depress the shutter button. This will help you to avoid blowouts for example. Another nice thing is that in low light, it will allow you to see things that the naked I can not. Pretty cool.
In addition, you will notice that the I.Q is superb. It is just as good as any other brand and as you already know, The other brands all have excellent I.Q's also.
The last thing that you may not know is that you can use Minolta AF lenses on it with excellent results. So, instead of spending $1,300.00 on a new lens, you can buy the same thing in Minolta for $13.00. I did just that thing about a month ago. I spent $10.00.
Another person on this forum just bought the a77 last week. She spent about a year doing her homework on it and she already knows how to shoot, but when she was just testing it out in auto, her jaw dropped! I am sure she will be posting the real deal pretty soon.
