To follow-up on a post somebody listed earlier this week, I was looking through my archives and found these two shots - they demonstrate the depth of field problem that can be encountered when taking close-ups. The first has the subject parallel to the camera and, hence the whole insect is in focus, whereas the second, whilst a more interesting pose, I've not managed to keep everything sharp. Whether you object or not is a matter of personal preference - but if you want some tips on dragonfly shots try this free download: http://photonaturalist.net/downloads/dragonfly_photography.pdf
