I keep getting advertisements for Silkypix programs. I know this comes packaged with new Panasonic (and maybe others) cameras, but there's not much discussion about it.
Any short comments on Silkypix?

Made by the Itchycowa Soft Company in Japan.

I'm not sure about the spelling of the company name, but Silkypix is the software distributed by Panasonic for its micro 4/3 cameras. I use it primarily to convert my Panasonic RAW shots to Photoshop DNG or RAW.

Update: Ichikawa Soft Labatory http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/english/

It also came with my Pentax cameras, I use it for RAW editing since I only have PSE 10 which has limited abilities. Version 3.0 came with my K-30 and K-01 so I guess this is the latest edition.

I believe Version 5 is the latest; Version 3.0 SE is the freebie.

My short comment is that it was a pain to install on one of my computers and not worth the trouble. I prefer Lightroom or Photoshop Elements for processing RAW files from Panasonic.

I had a feeling something was wrong. When you go to their website everything is written in broken english, like the instructions you get with something they make. The blog site is inoperable and the whole site is a general mess. I didn't click any trial offers, I don't trust them. As with most trial offers, even without a credit card you could be billed if you forget to discontinue the service, and the vendors probably won't remind you either. Read the terns of service. It's like that highway bill with 6 hours of reading.

Try http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/

Or http://www.isl.co.jp/shop_v2e/cgi-bin/sb.cgi?page=index.html&SID=578-UP2OZPDYSRQ

UPDATE: The price is 27000 JPY; at the current rate, that's over $320. I'm sorry, but at that price, I want a distributor in North America. I don't care how much I like the Panasonic-supplied software, I have to urge extreme caution. There is a free trial offered, but I'd run it through some heavy duty anti-virus software if I was going to download it - and don't give any personal information until you are sure this is a legitimate update.
