I received a request asking if something could be done to an old photo to enhance it some. It was sent via e-mail as a Word.docx of the photo which is attached. I converted to a PDF (attached) then to a jpeg and attaching that.

I am not experienced in photo restoration.

Question is can anything be done to enhance the image and can anyone assist?

Please send me an estimated compensation amount for your efforts if you think the image can be enhanced. Thank you.

People will be happy to do it here for no charge. It is fun. Please upload the jpeg of the scan using "Store original".

Be sure to scan it at high resolution; at least 600 dpi.

Best I can do with low res image

Hi, this is something i love to do, i would like to make money one day but not today. I agree with Mtnman that if you scan it at the highest resolution possible it makes for a better finished result. I have done a very quick touch up and i am not sure if the original is sepia or B&W so i have done both but could do better with high res image.

My PP skills arent up to this yet, but here's a suggestion. as the OP asked for a compensation amount and as you guys say "its fun..its free" how about a donation to the Sandy Hook / Newtown fund? Various funds have been suggested and are listed here: http://guilford.patch.com/articles/updated-how-you-can-help-memorial-donations-for-sandy-hook-victims-e04dba8a

For those of you who are trying to help, here is the original image that was in the "docx" file.

Here's my effort. Not 100% happy but thought I'd see what it looks like.

Thank you all. I will go back to the person who sent me the docx file and ask if he can get a scanned high resolution (at least 600dpi if possible) image to send to me to re-post. Maybe several days, especially with approaching holiday. I appreciate very much.

Do you suppose this guy was really going to play golf or was he just posing around with a swagger stick? Even Prince Charles looks more convincing lol.

This is about as good as I could get it. Copied for .docx file and edited in PS5. It's so grainy and blotchy that it's hard to get any clarity. Worth a try.

ask for Karen Hassinger. Her work is remarkable

I too tried two different versions of this image and agree with the others that a better job could be done if we could start with a higher resolution image (better scan). It is a fun challenge and interesting to see different results.
