You should seriously consider the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet. (IMPORTANT - This is
NOT the Galaxy 10.1 Tablet and it is
NOT the Galaxy 10.1 Tab 2 - it
IS the
Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet that includes the stylus/pen. See:
https://www.samsung.com/us/2012-galaxy-note-wifi/ ) The 10.1 Tablet and 10.1 Tab 2 are much cheaper, but have significantly poorer screens and CPUs - check the reviews if you are tempted to buy either.
The Note Tablet has a microSD slot that will take up to 64GB cards (but I would stick with 32GB because it is a hassle getting the 64GB formatted correctly.)
These two accessories (
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005O252GG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 ) substantially expand the Note's capabilities. The SD Card reader allows you to view, copy and edit files directly from your SD Card. The "USB Connector" turns the tablet into a USB host that supports external hard drives, mice, keyboards, USB memory sticks or ALL of them at once if you connect them through a powered USB hub.
I described in great detail this kind of setup with my Galaxy S3 phone here:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-59838-5.html#1002177 - also see pics on next page of that thread. The Note 10.1 Tablet connects up exactly the same.
One of the things that really surprised me when I was exploring my new Note 10.1 Tablet was that it ships with Adobe Photoshop Touch (
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-touch.html )
An important technical aspect here is that Samsung licensed the stylus/pen/screen pen input technology from Wacom. It is not a gimmicky, glitzy marketing feature. Editing photos in Photoshop Touch with the stylus is even better than using a Wacom digitizer tablet input into a desktop or laptop. You are drawing/editing directly (and smoothly) right on the image!
Also, with the USB adapter connected to certain Nikon and Canon cameras with this software:
http://www.heliconsoft.com/heliconremote.html you have a full 10.1 inch live view remote control! And even beyond THAT the Helicon software allows bracketing more that 3 shots on my D5100.
The Note 10.1 Tablet has a pretty decent camera and quite a few excellent camera apps in the Google Play store. It ships with Android 4.04 (ICS Ice Cream Sandwich)
The only irritating niggle is that it has a proprietary Samsung charging connector instead of the nearly universal microUSB port.

OK this is an area I have NO idea about.
I use a laptop to take to weddings gigs etc for backing up work.
I would like something lighter but at a reasonable price.
Does anyone use a tablet here that they would advise.
Personal experience is most important so anyone with one advice please.
Thank you
