My hubby's birthday falls on 12/21, the "supposed" end of the world (which I don't believe). BUT, I have a friend who is a talented cake maker and we're trying to come up with ideas for a "doomsday" or "apocalypse" cake for my hubby's birthday. I want something that is funny, but I'm drawing a blank.

We're all creative souls here on the Hog, can y'all help me out on this one. Ideas anyone???

I think you need to do some sort of Mayan calendar.

How about a clock with the minute hand real close to midnight. (Like 10 minutes to 12:00)
Write the date on the cake or the word "doomsday". It will then look like you're 10 minutes away from the end.

How about a cake shaped and decorated to look like a bottle of Jack Daniels?

How 'bout a "Crumble" cake? Made solely with the cumbs found on cumb cakes?

I like the clock idea! I was thinking a globe (resembling the Earth) with a giant crack in the top and lava oozing out? Maybe I could incorporate the clock onto the plate and put the earth in the center?

I'd start with a bundt cake since the middle is missing, then decorate to show an imploding scene.

How about a cake so "loosely baked" that it crumbles at being touched. Could be red on inside representing fire and covered with chocolate on the outside representing mud and dirt. Leave a crack on one side so the "firery center" can be seen.

Or a 1/2 inch tall cake designed with a replica of the Mayan calendar with one piece missing.
A variation could be just a regular "calendar cake" with dates on up until Dec. 21...the corner of the cake missing from that point on.

Why not in the shape of the "gluteus maximus" so he can kiss his ass goodbye.
Which is what we'll all be doing if there's any truth in it. :-):-):-)
