It is very rare to see one of these up close and during the day, as they are Nocturnal hunters. I was so blessed to get this shot!

You certainly are lucky and a very nice shot at that.
They don't stand still for long when they know they are within range of a person !

You sure were blessed...what a cool shot 8-)
Excellent shot. We have them in large numbers hereabouts. Every night there's a yipping, wailing, howling bedlam as they catch and slaughter some poor creature in the woods behind us.

Very nice shot. The way the animals blend in with their surroundings, I would have had a hard time seeing him/her...unless I was very close. Good job!!

We lived for many years in Newton, Kansas if you know where that is?
Moved to Phoenix about 9 years ago and frankly we see Coyotes around our neighborhoods all the time so it's different on the desert.
Like this young lady taking a break in the shade in our back yard a while back. They come for the water and our rabbits and they seem to have no problem with people. In fact I've had them pass so close, while walking in my neighborhood that I felt their fur on my legs.

I grew up on a farm near Hutch, so know exactly where Newton is. I accidently ran over one of these many, many years ago while riding my trail bike thru a prairie. It was apparently sleeping. It rolled over then jumped up and ran off, apparently unhurt. Very tough little critters.
Two things I miss most living in the city are the sound of coyotes and frogs at night.
Wow! They're beautiful animals. Great shot.
