Using two cameras at once

My first time video- taping a soccer game was a mild success. My camera has the capability to take snapshots while video-taping but they aren’t high quality. I could take stills from the video itself, but they are even worse quality. My thinking then became why not take pictures with my old bridge camera at the same time and get good quality. The video camera pretty much runs all the time and I can use a remote shutter on the still camera. I mounted the two cameras side by side and will use a monopod. Soccer season isn’t ‘till next Spring so I haven’t tried it out yet.

How were you able to mount both cameras to a tripod? All the tripods I've had has one screw.

Are those good quality screws - not just ordinary hardware store variety? You could get stronger bolts from an auto parts store. Maybe it's not an issue, but I like to avoid problems.

A very creative and innovative idea, Lumix Guy. Now go experiment before the season starts. Try not to get them Mixed up :!:

I guess you will have to set them to aim at the same point in order for them to take the same picture. If the subject is moving closer and then further away from you, I wonder if that will have an effect on what is in each camera frame. Will be an interesting experiment, good luck

Neat idea - did something similar once. Have an RCA Small Wonder video that is about the size of a cigarette pack. Had it in one hand and my D300 in the other capturing an out door stage show at fesival. All came out pretty good.

I hope he's not photographing an air show. That doesn't look very maneuveable. Maybe he's staff photographer for the Goodyear blimp. They laid off the other guys, so he has to do it all by himself now. That's how American workers get such high efficiency ratings: one doing the work of several.
