Had my Nikon Repaired recently

Recently I noticed my images were not coming out as I expected. Since I hesitate to blame the camera, continued to work with it to no avail. I broke down and sent it back. (Nikon D300s) The Nikon factory found the lens mounting ring was broken. I remembered falling in the ice with my camera around my neck, but the camera did not hit the ground. (I thought) Now it shoots perfectly. My confidence is restored. Just an FYI.

I'm with you. I'd rather blame myself first. Reason being: That's the easiest (and cheapest) to fix. I'm glad you posted your experience!
Thanks!

Yeah, it was the strangest thing to be getting the weird looking pics. I kept checking and re-checking and when my wife's instamatic was giving better results, that did it. LOL!

Where did you send it, how much was it to fix it, and how long did it take? I have a D300 and have thought about sending it in just to be checked out and cleaned.

I sent it to Nikon and they want $75.00 up front and the freedom to go up to $250.00 if needed. They came back with a total bill of $350.00 to clean, adjust and replace the bayonet mounting ring.

Thank you, was it the Chicago location? How long did it take?

You might want to check with Rick Riggins, a retired tec that repairs cameras in his home. He is a UHH member and lives in Denver, Co.

You won't be sorry that you chose him as I have used him on a couple of issues with both of my Nikon D200 units and he is quick, certified and very reasonable. I can all but guarantee you will be happy as 100% of those I have talked to that had him do repair work have been satisfied!!
