Hi, I've been looking for a good Macro lens to complement my Canon EF 100mm f2.8L IS USM lens. This may do it. Of course the price was right, only $100+shipping. Dose anyone have any experience with this lens? As I see it the lens is out of production except for the "L" model. I read all the reviews and they all cited buy only the Mark II model, which I did. The lens also has minimum focus distance of .39 m, which converts to .15 inches. Possibly my only regret is that it does not have IS. I will be able to use my old 52mm filters from my old "S" lenses. I do have 14 days to return the lens if I don't like it.

Per Canon at http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/lens/ef/data/standard_zoom/ef_28~70_35~45ii.html , the EF28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 II is a standard zoom lens, with a Minimum focusing Distance of 39-mm, and a maximum magnification of .22x = approx 1:5 = 1/5 life-size. Hardly a macro lens.

Here is Canon's list of their macro lenses. Yours is not listed: http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/lens/ef/macro.html
