I am about to bite the bullet and get a DSLR...I remember my film days and took much better pics and with more thought then that now with my Canon G12 and Panasonic FZ35. I always thought today's DSLRs as big, bulky and heavy...but this NEX6 is small enough to fit in my front pack while hiking and I am excited...it will be here Tuesday! Anyone use one and how do you like it? Would love some feedback...
The Sony NEX6 is not a DSLR, it is a CSS or Compact System Camera. In plain language, a compact camera with an interchangeable lens. It has an electronic viewfinder, not an optical viewfinder and does not have a mirror box. It's a good choice for hiking.
The n6 is a very competent camera in some respects better than the 7, the basic difference between the two are the navi controls and the 24mp sensor, not a big deal as the 16mp is no slouch. You picked well my friend time for a dos Equis.......
I use the NEX series for my normal to wide angle work and Canon for tele work. The in camera sweep panorama and HDR are game changing !
Thanks for posting this link. I found it very helpful since I recently bought a NEX 5N and have never used a Sony before. I may have bitten off more than I can chew but I do enjoy learning. The Sigma 30 sounds like a lens I could really use. Where did you buy yours? Thanks in advance for your input.
They are now on Amazon in stock for $149!
That is now my default source, as I have an Amazon credit card that earns points with purchases.
Thanks so much for your input on the NEX6...it came yesterday and am having fun playing with it...hard to change camera interface but the camera looks great...
