Hi Great shots. do you have any showing the back of the bird for comparison with those in NZ which are like the European gold finch.

This is the closest I have at the moment for a back shot of these birds. I will try to get a direct back shot so you can see it better. Keep in mind though, the Goldfinches are not presently in their breeding plumage. Mike

Thanks for posting that shot they look a very different colur from ours and the bweak seem a little less heavy.

Here's some during or shortly after breeding. Needless to say...full color. their favorite seed is the thistle.
