Few composers lend themselves to jazz better than J.S. Bach. Maybe it's why he was a master improvisor when they held improv contests in his day. Jacques Loussier and "Play Bach" came up around the time of Almedia. There are the "Swingle Singers" and countless other Bach jazz interpreters. Thanks for sharing this one. I was not aware of Ameida until your post.

The professor for my college freshman course in Western Music History was all about the Swingle Singers. What got me interested in majoring in music in the first place was a band arrangement of a Bach organ work we played at a bi-county band weekend. I knew I wanted to be in the middle of those sounds as much as possible. For years my favorite albums were Switched On Bach (total analog from studio to record player) and Bach by Ormandy. And to think if not for Mendelssohn we might not know much about him at all. Nice to connect in the audio vain here at UHH.

As usual all good stuff. The interesting thing for me was the voice of the host who started off the video. I recognized it right away as the radio voice of classic music and jazz.
