Anyone ever deal with a company called Mercari?

It's supposed to be a consumer-to-consumer site. They claim that their policy is that they don't process your payment until three days after you receive a product, and that you can return it within the three-day period.

I've seen a few websites say they are legit.

Sounds Great.

They have a BBB rating of A

Sounds Great.

Their customer rating on the BBB site is 1.06 stars out of five (over 1000 reviews). WHAT? Given that some people misclick, I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

I see a listing for a Nikon Z 7 ii today for Under $400 -- with the 24-70 claiming that it has about 300 clicks. What????

My first, second and third reactions are this has got to be a scam. But if I'm not charged until I receive the item, I'm not sure I'm seeing what it is.

Anyway -- comfortable in the belief that if it looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is. I'm not going to bite.

But does anyone know what the play on the part of the seller is here.

I am a top rated seller on Ebay for over 10 years. The buyer is very protected, as soon as the buyer wants to return an item, their money is reimbursed. No questions asked.
I have found it a very safe place to buy products, the buyer is always protected.
But you must follow the directions, and they are very simple.
Even a 5 year old could do it.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

What do they get for selling you a z7ii for under $400? So it has to be a scam.

I have a friend with a home pottery business that sells small handmade pottery items on the Mercari site. It is legitimate enough that they sent her a Form 1099 for 2024 showing her gross sales total.

No . . . but I just received a email from a "so called" Pay Pal saying I owe them $661.99. Sure sounds like a scam as I have never ever had any kind of dealings with them. Has anyone heard of this one.

If KEH is selling a used Nikon Z7ii for $1934, you can be rather confident anyone selling that camera for less than $500 is not for real.

I've heard Abe's of Maine has great prices.

If it is coming from California it probably has been stolen .

Even if it's stolen they won't sell it for that price. Selling stolen good for cheap would make people suspect that it's stolen good. If it's stolen good it they would try to sell it as normal price.

Ken, I have never used the web services of Mercari

But I do "Trust" the reviews on "TrustPilot.com" -- and they don't look good
....... Overall 'average rating' of 1.7 stars out of a total of 5 stars.. with over 19,200 reviews

.......... I think I would pass.. Personal Opinion

See the below screenshot and/or go to the Trust Pilot website and check...

Glad you are a reputable seller.
It seems like some (the others) are trying to outnumber the reputable ones anymore.
