Questions to all MAGA members...

Why is Trump on Trial in New York City and not in Florida or Texas?

What is Trump accused of doing?

The New York trial is pretty simple. He is on trial because he is running for president.

Hers the background. Trumps attorney paid Stormy Daniels a large payment. It might be because he did something with her or it might be just that he did not want her continuing to claim they had a fling while he was running for president.

Some democrats claimed that the "hush money" payment violated campaign finance law, so the feds investigated and determined that 1) he did not violate the law and 2) even if he had the statute of limitations was gone. So Bragg decided that he could make a rico case out of it even thoigh the allegation is that federal, not state law was violated. Its a total farce.

For the record, DOJ initially did not indict Trump because of the DOJ memo saying you shouldn't indict a sitting President. Subsequently, they apparently decided not to indict him over concerns about the cooperation and credibility of Michael Cohen--for the feds, a potential cooperating witness must divulge the entire range of their criminal conduct over their lifetime to get a deal, and Cohen apparently was not willing to do that. DOJ also was concerned that Trump’s lack of basic knowledge of campaign finance laws might make it hard to prove intent.

Bragg's case accuses Trump of falsifying New York business records in order to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity (pertaining to the payoff of Stormy Daniels) from American voters before and after the 2016 election.

Regarding the statute of limitations, I believe you are confusing this case with Jean Carole's case. In that case, NYS relaxed the statute of limitations law on sexual assaults primarily to allow suits to move forward by those who, when they were minors, had been abused by Catholic Church priests. Nothing in the legislative history shows that the Trujmp v. Carole case was on anyone's mind when the law was passed, but the law broadly covered old sexual assault cases, including Trump's assault of Carole. You probably remember that in that case Trump was found to be liable for sexually assaulting and defaming Carole and was ordered to pay her $88 million.

No I am not confusing the two. The same is true of both. Its still a federal not a state issue. Bragg is grasping at straws and although it is likely that he will get a guilty verdict if the appeal ever gets to a federal court it will quickly be thrown out.
