Although most of my photography is with the fire department, I do enjoy shooting sports, ie baseball and football. Unfortunately, here in Peoria, we do not have any major football teams, BUT we do have semi-pro baseball, the Peoria Chiefs ( semi-pro team for the St. Louis Cardinals) which I receive Press passes for each season.
Here are a few images from the first game of the season.
I carry 2 - Z 9's, NIKON 300mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8 S; I use auto-ISO, average 1/8000 sec @ 2.8

I can hardly wait. Well, maybe I could wait a hundred years or so without withdrawal symptoms.

Great captures Doc.
Maybe share your sequence #4-#6 to the team so that the 2nd baseman can see that he needs to be aware of the where the lead hand will be and ready to swipe tag on the correct side. Runner would have been out!

First, the second baseman needs his hand to be where the ball is?
Any swiping in this case was too late, runner was already safe.

Great photo captures of the action.

Great series and great timing to capture this action. Or maybe you were shooting 5 frames/second and just picked out the most dramatic ones to post. Either way, great set that captures the viewers attention from start to finish.

Regarding the 2nd baseman in #4- 6, it obviously wasn't a force out because he's trying to tag the runner. Therefore, his was in the wrong position. He shouldn't be standing on the base, he should have been in front of the base in the runners way
