As I entered the auto route circling the main marsh area of Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, I encountered several photo ops that made it clear that my days of hand-holding the beast (A1 and 600mm lens with 2X tc) and getting sharp shots were over. When I had the car or a large amount of time, I could get shots in focus. Otherwise, a monopod is in my future. Thankfully, I also had my A9 and a 100 - 400 mm lens with a 1.4 tc. That enabled quick reaction and closer shots to work.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Beautiful lighting, Mike.

Thank you for looking and your encouragement.
Really great set Mike. You seem to have become an excellent the birder.
I understand the weight issues.
I bought a monopod with feet and a and a swivel head

Thanks, Jack, I have one, but it is not handy for jumping out of the car.
A fine set, Mike. I'm with you about the monopod.

I appreciate your generous comment, Mark. The golden hour light makes these shots.
More happy signs, Gary, thanks.
