I have two Canon APS-C cameras, a T6s and a 60D modified for astro photography. I contacted Canon's Help line by email and asked if a filter made for older APS-C cameras would work in the R7 body. I received two replies from two different people that told me to use a screw on filter on the end of my lens. From the responses from both people, I had the distinct impression they had no clue what I was talking about.
Anyone out there in UHH Land know if you can snap a Hydrogen alpha filter into the body of a R7? Thanks!
I don’t think so. Google clip in filters and it should tell you. The sites I read say no.

Not surprised James.
Most think us odd-balls doing AP are out of this world.
I would assume you want a filter to mount in the camera body. Maybe if you could get a snap in filter to use as an example you could find a substitute that would fit.
But then comes the part of finding somewhere to get the filter to fit the snap in frame.
Something I did for my 80mm telescope was to get a mounted solar filter that I then mounted into a piece of 4" PVC. The flared end of the piece of pipe. (Thin walled drainage type.)
A big plus was this filter that fit over the 80mm telescopes dew shield happens to fit inside my Tamron 150-600 telephoto lens. So a dual use adaptation of the solar filter. (Badder film filter)
So if you are using any sort of lenses, maybe you can make an external adapter to get your filter to work?
