For me, a masterful use of both extreme white and black, and midtones too. The shallow depth of field adds to the mystery of the darker areas. I love it!
I used to be a bit put off by watermarks and signatures that seemed "too large." Then I read this on one of the flickr group's (minimalism) guidelines, and was quite tickled
"...you can have watermarks - because if you don't have the imagination to see beyond them then quite frankly you don't have what it takes to recognise art. Some of the finest minimalist work in the world is framed and signed..."

Yes and I'll probably drop the opacity a bit too! I'm still experimenting with the concept of using a watermark.
