Disappointed

I recently posted a request for advice on printers to which I received a total of 2 replies - for those two I am grateful. I believe I have gone out of my way to be complimentary to many, many, many, of the Hogs over the last 5-6 years, often for the effort shown more than results, and I must say I am very disappointed by the response.

I see four recommendations in your request (two in one reply, three total responses). Have you contacted each?

Do you feel that people are withholding valuable knowledge as some sort of punishment?

Would you prefer "guesses" rather than experience (often what fills the pages here)?

If I had any useful info on the subject, I would certainly have responded. Nothing personal!

I've always been very selective, (early 1970s), on which photos to actually have printed.
Always sent them out to a professional printer when I did.
Thought buying a color printer, read the reviews, read about maintenance, issues with unpredictable color usage, costs and quality of paper and ultimately decided to keep sending them out to professionals.
The only color printers I EVER managed were purchased from a vendor, together with a 2-hour, on-call service contract.

Yes, I have requests for bids out, no, I do not prefer guesses, and certainly was looking for experienced comments. Thank you for your response.

Please disregard my "disappointed" post, it should not have been posted and I appreciate the responses received.

I know absolutely nothing about printers and I suspect that involves the majority of the members of the Hog. Would you prefer a mailbox full of such statements?

You may find that with a little bit more info in the title of your request, you will get better responses. Usually when I see something that has a single word in the title I tend to just pass it by.
But as to your first request for help, when I went back and looked I wasn’t sure whether it was about an outside printing service or whether you wanted advice on a printer to buy. As CPO said, no one was ignoring you, only the subject.

I would have given you my reply, but my printer is not available for sale.
It's a Canon P-100 which Canon discontinued some time ago.
I treat it with care because it prints the best I have ever seen.
While it was still for sale at B&H I got another for back up.
Haven't needed it as yet, but i feel glad I have the back up.

I'm sorry that you didn't get all the response that were looking for.

My best advice is to call B&H and ask there advice like I did.

Sorry I never saw the post. I could tell you which printers not to buy.

Printers are kind of like cameras and cars. Everyone has an opinion just ask. Their's is best.

Apparently the crowd at UHH knew which direction that thread would go. LOL

Short answer: Love my Epson eco tank for home projects. It beats my former HP and Canon printers.

From looking at previous requests on here in the past, I believe you will find that most people on here prefer the Canon and Epson printers.

When I need some prints I use the local Walmart. Not particularly like them much but I don't want to wait. Thus I can't recommend in your thread asking for printer.
