Also good it apparently cooled down from whatever extreme temperature it probably had iat some point n the descent.

The article goes on to suspect the object is a part of the 2 plus tons of battery jettisoned by ISS a couple years ago and tracked to entry over gulf of Mexico, 4 minutes before this hit the house in Florida. Our local recycle centre get ansty if I bin a AA or cr2032 improperly but it's OK for NASA to toss a couple tons of lithium battery overboard!!
